4 states, 3 sleepovers, 1 weekend

June 3, 2013

Is it weird to do your weekend update by state rather than day? Oh well. Here we are. In short, this weekend I:

Filled my gas tank 6 times.
Crossed four states.
Slept in three different beds.
Attended one wedding.
Danced with my sorority sisters like it was 2011.
And received quite the educational tour on Richmond, IN.

More, you say? Happy to oblige =)

ILLINOIS (Thursday)

Spent the night in Chi-town with one of my besties, Gracey. We consumed quite the amount of wine while reading All the Rules: your guide to finding Mr. Right, right now! I learned a lot. Like:
  • You shouldn't accept a Friday or Saturday date if they ask on or after Wednesday.
  • Regardless of whether you keep up on current events, graduated college, or hold a job...you are a valuable prize to these men (direct quote).
  • Don't get frustrated if you always end up doing the chores, it's not worth it to lose your patience!
  • And last but not least, remember...even Cinderella had the last word (what???)

OHIO (Friday)
I can't even. Just seeing that state's name in bold. Angst. Fingers curling.

But. It was worth it. To walk in to the church late while they were all lining up to proceed down the aisle and see her laugh at me because she knows to expect nothing less then the most jankest behavior, made it all worth it. I got to see some of my wonderful sorority sisters and dance like the good ol' days. Eat, drink and be merry....check, check, check.

Oh, and I met some really amazing Catholic missionaries who also like beer and went to two dive bars. Great wrap up to a good day.

OHIO, INDIANA (Saturday)
Drove, drove, drove. Ran into my ex-boyfriend at a truck stop. Drove, drove, drove. Spent the night with my beautiful grandlittle, took a tour of Richmond, IN and learned all about drop out factories, dairy farming, basketball and good ol' American life in cornfields. More to come on that little sleepover later, because it really deserves its own post.

INDIANA, ILLINOIS, MISSOURAH (Sunday)
Drove, drove, drove. Visited some really great truck stops. Alright. I can't. Just recapping all this driving is making my eyes cross.

****

Tomorrow, I'll wrap up road trip week here on The Unreal Life with Road Tripperies Awardsies (and hopefully come up with a better name for it by then. Oh and I think I'm co-hosting a link-up? What? Maybe? I don't know. It's in my calendar.). And be sure to stop by later this week....because I'll be announcing a brand new, one-time only link up.

How was your weekend?

XOXO

Liebster Love

June 1, 2013

Hello friends!

Ashley at I Spy Something Beautiful was so kind and nominated me for a Liebster Award! I'm a big fan of the Liebster Award because it helps showcase bloggers who are just starting out. There are so, so many new bloggers I've seen who have content just as good as those "top blog dogs" (don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about), but they just don't have those huge number of followers yet--but they definitely deserve it! Ok ok, I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry, sometimes blogging is a lot like high school. I'm just...excited for the day when these little bloggers get the attention they deserve. Moving on.

Liebster Rules:
1. The recipient must give 11 facts about themselves
2. They must also answer the 11 questions set by their nominator
3. They then choose 11 deserving blogs to nominate
4. They set those blogs 11 questions
5. They inform their nominees and link their blogs in their blog post
6. If they want to, they can include the button in their sidebar

Autumn's Version:
1. The recipient will list 11 facts about herself
2. The recipient will nominate 11 (or another randomly chosen number) of blogs she adores with less than 300 followers and shower them with compliments and praise and love.
Because that's the goal: give credit where credit is due. Introduce us to new bloggers who have great content. Work together. Grow together.
3. Let them know you nominated them (Which I can straight up say I won't be doing, because I'll be driving. Maybe when I get home Sunday.).
4. Throw in some random pictures so we get to know you!

11 Facts
  1. I only drink flat pop.
  2. I have a phobia of dentists.
  3. I have never seen Star Wars, Star Trek, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland or Sound of Music.
  4. I believe Gossip Girl will continue to be the best show ever produced in my lifetime, and fear I will never find a show to top it.
  5. I only recently saw my first episode of Sex and The City, which might be my new addiction.
  6. I started out writing short stories, and had never written a comedic piece until I started this blog. To this day, I still jump a little and get butterflies whenever someone comments that something I wrote was funny.
  7. One time as a kid, my dad made me miniature pancakes and I didn't eat them because I wanted to play with my barbies instead. He never made them for me again, and I still feel guilty to this day.
  8. If I didn't have morals, I would be a professional thief.
  9. A drawing of me once sold for $200 what what.
  10. I want to adopt all my future babies.
  11. I believe a day spent inside, alone with a good book is just as good as a day spent with friends. Both are necessary.
Tribal barbie says "thanks for reading all that, friend!"

Blogs I love:

Kayla @ Simple Bliss
Shannon @ Verbs

So take some time (please) to check out these lovely ladies and their blogs. Their content is sometimes hysterical, sometimes beautiful, sometimes emotional...but always, always real. And don't forget, you can follow along with my weekend road trip adventures on twitter and instagram selfpromoteselfpromoteblahblahblah. Hopefully by the time you read this I'll be out of Ohio can I get a WHAT WHAT.
