I Dreamt I was Hitler's Girlfriend

July 23, 2013

Aaaaaaand we're back folks, for another round of "What's that mean, dream?" An exciting game where I try to outwit DreamMood.com's interpretation of my dream by pulling an explanation from it that doesn't mean sexual repression or needed therapy.

The dream:
I am in the Holocaust and have been taken to a concentration camp. They make us do all kinds of awful things and I am terrified that I am going to die. I keep fervently trying to tell them I'm Norwegian, not Jewish. But I'm scared because whenever people ask me intense questions I have a tendency to break into giggles, making the other person believe I'm lying because I can't stop laughing. I practice very hard saying "Norwegian" without smiling.

We are brought to a big banquet hall, where a series of slides is shown to us. Each slide has a completely made up sentence on it, and we all have to memorize the words--salmon, wax paper, etc. Then, we have to stand in two lines and Hitler goes down the line and each person says one word. But it has to be in the right order, or you get executed. I'm sweating bullets, but fortunately the game ends at the person right before me. Hitler is le bored. We are dismissed.

And then...Hitler picks me up in his car and WE GO ON A DATE. BECAUSE I AM HITLER'S GIRLFRIEND. He tells me he never expected this to happen and he loves me so much and he just wants to make me happy and I'm like "Dude...then don't keep dropping me off at my bunker every night!" And THEN I see myself and I am MIRANDA HOBBS FROM SATC.

Symbols Explained:
  • Hitler is a sign of opression, fear and manipulation of power. Something in your life is making you feel less than human.
  • Dreaming that you are on a date signifies that you are exploring different aspects of yourself.
  • The banquet hall means that I am emotionally malnourished.
  • If you see a concentration camp, it means that you are having trouble accepting other's differences.

Hold up. I suffer through the concentration camp dream
and suddenly I'm in the wrong for being judgemental?

DreamMood's Interpretation:
Dating Hitler is a great thing for you right now! You need to branch out, try new things
and stop judging people! Only when you learn to accept other's differences
will you become emotionally fulfilled.
You don't want to end up like Miranda Hobbs, do you?

My interpretation:
You're going to be a cat lady.

Or,
you feel less than human because everyone you converse with in STL seems slightly crazy and has very different opinions than you on basically everything in life. This leaves you second guessing whether you are in fact crazy. In the midst of these people, you feel like Miranda Hobbs--straight laced, over-logical and emotionless.

BOOM.

What's your interpretation? What's the weirdest dream you've had lately?

Also, because I'm feeling sorry/terrified for myself after being Hitler's girlfriend,
all ad spaces are 50% with promo code "CATLADY".

#FutureCatLady

June 11, 2013

Last night, I had a dream. I dreamed that the lovely Venus, who is currently working on a super duper blog design for me, made me a header with a picture of a cat in it. When I started crying and telling her that's not the point of my blog and I'm really not going to be a cat lady, she screamed at me that there were no redesigns and I should just accept it and move on to my fate.*

*Disclaimer: Working with Venus is in fact absolutely nothing like this. She is very kind and patient.

So....it's time for another round of Autumn's favorite game:
WHAT'S THAT MEAN:  DREAM INTERPRETATION.

Let's hit up our good friends at dreammoods.com (they should start paying me) and see what these symbols mean:

  • To dream of a business activity may be a metaphor for a similar aspect of your personality you need to deal with.
  • To dream of a blog (whaaaat bloggers represented in dreamland hollah!) suggests that you are trying to change or rewrite the past to suit your own needs. Consider what is written in the journal and how it is similar or dissimilar to actual events in your waking life. Alternatively, it symbolic of some memory or something that you need to always remember.
  • To dream of a cat symbolizes an independent spirit, feminine sexuality, creativity, and power. It also represents misfortune and bad luck. If the cat is aggressive, then it suggests that you are having problems with the feminine aspect of yourself. If you are afraid of the cat in your dream, then it suggests that you are fearful of the feminine.

So, what's that mean? Basically, I think my dream is trying to tell me that I need to embrace my female wiles, shall we say, and put them into action in order to avoid becoming a cat lady. While I cannot rewrite my past of dating absolute crazies, I need to remember this time in my future life because when I am 30 and rich and have my own personal Dorota I will long for the days of my single-girl apartment life.

Or, maybe since the cat symbolizes problems with the feminine, my subconscious is trying to tell me it's really time for a shower. It's hard to embrace your femininity with greasy hair.

You can check out my other dream interpretations here and here. As always, let me know if you need me to help you interpret a dream. I'm pretty handy with a Google search.

Dream Interpretation: Part Two!

March 23, 2013

Earlier, I shared my first stab (get it...'cuz there was a needle) at dream interpretation. And since I've had a total of THREE dreams now featuring this same person (crazy Jekyll and Hyde man), that can obviously only mean one thing: we have serious issues we need to work out it should be a blog series durrrr! It's not AS entertaining, but now that I've looked up dream symbols once...I want more.

So, Dream 3: I'm searching for X (boy from last dream) at Graduation (and apparently our school was in the South and it was really hot and dusty), and I can't find him. I finally find him and we get into a huge fight about all the reasons we won't work out (nothing new there). Then, he disappears and magically reappears later with a letter. He was very specific about repeating that he could only write letters standing up and that it had taken him 5 hours to write it. It was about all his emotions...but then it turned into a storybook? With photos of old soldiers and a group of men swimming a log down a beach. X explains to me that he will never be satisfied unless he can exercise his manliness like these soldiers. We continue to fight about our relationship. Then, magically, we forget all of our reasons for hating each other and end up back together, celebrating our relationship on the beach with his family. I am gathering all of our beach supplies to leave--which are so many that I can't hold them--when his father tells X that I am a "good woman."

***
My Interpretation:
You should follow your life long dream of moving to the South and becoming an old Southern woman. in the South, you will find great things like soldiers and father-in-laws who approve of your sass. You are attracted to men who like physical exercise, although you find yourself allergic to the gym.
(I mean...let's make this good.)
***

DreamMood.com's Interpretation:
Emotional mental issues blah blah blah.
Sex blah blah blah.
Meeting of the subconscious blah blah blah.
Work out your issues blah blah blah.

To dream of the direction south indicates life, expectations, and questions. Alternatively, the dream may symbolize love, passion and warmth. Or the dream may be a metaphor that a plan has "gone south" or gone awry (like this blog post).

Heat represents purity, creative energy or intense passion.

To dream that you are searching for something signifies the need to find something that is missing or needed in your life.

To dream that you are at a graduation represents your achievements. You are successfully transitioning to a higher level, and are ready to move forward and perform more important things.

letter signifies a new opportunity or challenge. Alternatively, the letter represents a message from your subconscious. The contents of the letter may offer you some guidance in a current situation (again...this letter told me nothing I didn't already know. Fail fest.).

Five represents your persuasiveness, spontaneity, boldness, daring nature, action, and humanity (aww, dreammoods, you're too kind! Thanks for finally not making me sound like a sexually-repressed emotional basketcase.). The number five represents the five human senses and thus may be telling you to be more in tune to your senses. Alternatively, the  number five may reflect a change in your path or that you need to alter your course. It is also the link between heaven and earth.

To see a log floating in water represents new opportunities

Swimming may be a sign that you are seeking some sort of emotional support.

The beach symbolizes the meeting between your two states of mind. The sand is symbolic of the rational and mental processes while the water signifies the irrational, unsteady, and emotional aspects of yourself. It is a place of transition between the physical/material and the spiritual. To dream that you are on the beach and looking out toward the ocean indicates unknown and major changes that are occurring in your life. To dream that you are looking toward the beach suggests that you are returning to what is familiar to you. Alternatively, you may be adapting or accepting to the changes and circumstances in your life.

So, after reading those, maybe a second interpretation is:
You are facing great changes and turmoil in your life. New challenges are ahead. You are both getting used to the old changes while simultaneously entering into new ones. You are the link between heaven and earth, AKA top betch go volunteer more and serve others.
Oh, and go drink more wine.

What do you think my dream means? I'd love to hear your interpretation below! =) Or, leave you dream below and I will offer my highly trained services to interpret it for you ;)

NOW OFFERING FREE Dream Reading!

March 18, 2013

Just kidding. (I mean, if you want me to analyze your dream, I can...but I am not a professional.) But the following happened and it made me giggle so I thought I would share, in case it makes you giggle too. My best frand and I were texting about mutual crazy dreams we had last night, so of course, like any good friend would do, we offered non-professional, way off base dream interpretations to liven it up.

My dream:
I went to go visit a man friend (that's giving him more credit than he deserves) only to find he lives at home and his room is painted pink. My dream very clearly zoomed in on different items in his room, all of which were family pictures or mementos. I remember thinking "aww, he's so much more than his deuschy frat boy self." Then, I went downstairs to see him and this is where the dream switched into Jekyll and Hyde--literally. He literally kept switching personalities every like five minutes (dream time) and whenever he would switch to the violent personality, we would have to lock him up in the cubby space under his bunk bed.  Then, while waiting for his violent mood to pass, I would go downstairs and hang out with his parents who of course looked nothing like they do in real life (his dad was a nerd and his mom was black. Say what?). I went upstairs to try and talk to him while he was locked in his cubby hole and tell him how much I loved him and that everything would be okay, when his nurse, who was madly in love with him and harboring secret affections, STABBED ME IN THE ARM WITH A HYPODERMIC NEEDLE.

Then I woke up.

Lauren's Analysis:
Because of your past flings with him, he's at the top of your mind. But because of your last awful relationship, your projecting your fears about future relationship potential (trust me, there is zero potential). For example, you're scared that he'll act like a complete psycho as R did, and have some scary-ass side person with needles (R has a part-time lesbian ex-girlfriend soooo that seems like a realistic projection). As far as the mother being black, maybe you're racist. I have no idea. Jk jk lol lol.

*****

Lauren's Dream:
Lately, I've had several dreams with dinosaurs. They're just present. Like we know they exist, but we also know that they won't harm us unless they're provoked. We go about our lives carefully, knowing (thanks to Jurassic Park) that if you hold still, they can't see you.

My Analysis:

There are several issues in your life that are critical, but not life-threatening, that you're ignoring. And as long as you don't change, you don't have to deal with them.

***

According to dreammoods.com (so legit), dreaming of a past lover signifies the relationship has unfinished/unresolved issues, and someone using a needle suggests that I need to "incorporate and join together various aspects of my consciousness." Bunk beds in your dream represent childhood and innocence. Alternatively, it may refer to diverging and conflicting views of sexuality. You may have difficulties expressing your needs and desires (this is getting awkward). To see a nurse in your dream means that you need to take time out in order to heal, mentally, physically and spiritually. (I'm wondering if there's any dream combination DreamMoods wouldn't be able to find a way to make sexual?)

So basically, DreamMoods would advise me to get locked in a room with "man friend" and work out our unresolved issues. This sounds sexual terrible and unnecessary.

I also learned that I am the only who responds to texts that say "You were in my creepy dream last night..." Awesome. I mean, who's curiosity wouldn't be peaked by that? Clearly, only mine.

So, what do you think of our dream analysis skills? Should we quit our day jobs? Too soon? Leave your dream below if you want a crazy, fully accurate interpretation ;)
