More #bloggerproblemz (or: whine whine wine)

August 7, 2013

Oh heyyyy kids. How is everyone doing today? Let me tell you what, blogging when you don't have a job is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I was like oh, I will have all the time in the world to read and write and design cute little random graphics for cute little random posts...and then moving boxes came and tumbled down on top of me. And sleep. Sleep came and tumbled down on top of me. But I'm here. Here to stay. And I hope you'll stay right along with me =)

I've had a couple awkward "#bloggerproblemz" moments lately that I thought I'd share. I was shopping for a new phone (woot woot upgrade time) and the sales associate was like "well, what do you want from your phone? What are your hobbies?" And I kind of looked down and was like "I'm a blogger cough cough cough." Why is it so hard to admit that?!?! He gave me this weird look and goes "Are you going to blog about this?" Yep. Yep I am.

And then we have the "I can't friend certain people on social media because I don't want them to know about my blog" conundrum  Because I, unlike many other smart people I know, did not create separate personal and blog social media accounts (and seriously...I can barely keep up with one, why would I get two?). But it is quite the #bloggerproblem. And why don't I want them to know about my blog? Mainly because I have an epic 12 year old girl crush and don't want to fess up to the fact that I moved. Yep. That's right. Said person thinks I'm on vacation in Michigan. And I don't want to tell them otherwise. Mostly because I want to have his lumberjack babies.

So, while I'm busy continuing my hot mess of an unreal life....I'm excited to introduce you today to Kelli from She Crab Soup. While the name of the blog may draw you there, the content will surely keep you there. I've really enjoyed getting to know Kelli through her posts, her excitement for life and adventure really shines through!

What's the meaning behind your blog's name, She Crab Soup? When I originally started my blog it was called The Bookworm it was going to be all about books, but after the first week I realized I had so much more I wanted to share. I changed the name of my blog to Dancing In the Rain. A month or so later I decided two things. First, that name didn't fit me at all. Second, there were at least 10 other blogs with that name and I wanted to be original (don't we all). So I asked all three of my readers for suggestions and my Aunt came up with She Crab Soup and a few others. I was immediately attracted to She Crab Soup for the girly beachy crabby feeling it gave me inside so I changed my blog name for the last time and I'm so glad I did. I can't find a single other blog named She Crab Soup AND I think it fits me to a T.

You're a big reader, what's your favorite book and why? This question is so hard, I love so many books. If I had to pick a favorite I would say the Harry Potter series (yes I realize this is 7 books but it's all one story right). I admire J.K. Rowling's creativity, building an entire magical world from thoughts inside your head is amazing and a talent I wish I had. I never got bored or thought the story need to hurry along, I was an engaged reader from the beginning to the end and I rarely find a book that can keep me engaged all the way through.

Anything else we should know about you? I keep my daughter's name and pictures off my blog, first I want her to decide for herself her how to handle her own public interwebz identity. Second could you imagine if your baby pictures and stories were all over the web for your future high school boyfriends, friends, enemies, and employers to find? UGH!!

  1. Woah woah woah. I need to know more about this 'crush' situation. I'm confused. He thinks you're on vacation but you actually live there? Or the opposite? Either way I love it.

  2. I have a whole notes section dedicated to things I plan to blog about on my phone. I had a friend read it over my shoulder once and found my blog. It was a ripple effect from there!

  3. I am so embarrassed to tell people I blog, just what is up with that? I mean it's not like we don't put our pictures and out lives right out there on the interwebz for all to see!

  4. I love Kelli! :) I had to separate my personal and blog accounts (which you commented on) because there was stuff in my personal life that I would share with my friends and then it would turn into a blogger thing that I didn't want to post about but people would ask about/comment about/etc.

  6. Every time I go to buy a new phone there is an awkward encounter between the guy selling me the phone and myself... I've come to the conclusion that it's probably me and not them.
Also I love that you are struggling (wow that sounds bad) with keeping your blog private from your real life because I am also in a bind when it comes to blogging and not letting people know about it... not a fun time for me. And I adore that you have a serious crush and didn't tell him you packed up and moved. It's a good story for the grandkids, amiright?

  7. I second Tami. What's going on there girl ;) But yeah, I hate when people I know find my blog. It's always a little awkward...

  8. I might be a weird blogger, but I actually post my blog stuff on my personal facebook. For the most part I don't mind when people I actually know read it. I even have a link to my blog on my resume! But that's mostly because I'm looking to work in a communication related field. However, I definitely agree that it's hard to admit to being a blogger in person!!

  10. I haven't decided how much I want people I know to be involved with my blog. But only because right now it is about my breakup and I do not want people on Facebook judging every single thing I post about him.
